Amore e Meditazione
La crescita personale richiede un movimento continuo da una polarità all’altra. A volte stare da soli è perfetto: si ha bisogno del proprio spazio, di dimenticare tutti e stare con se stessi. L’altro è assente e quindi non hai nessuno che ti confina: l’altro crea un confine, da solo sei infinito.
Vivendo insieme agli altri, andando in giro per il mondo, nella società, a poco a poco si avverte un senso di confino, di limitazione, come se si avessero attorno delle mura: diventa una sottile forma di prigionia e si sente il bisogno di muoversi.
A volte è necessario stare completamente da soli, in modo che ogni confine scompaia, come se l’altro non esistesse affatto, e l’intero universo, il cielo infinito esistessero solo per te: in quel momento di solitudine per la prima volta si comprende cos’è l’infinito.
Ma se ci rimani troppo a lungo, con l’andare del tempo l’infinito ti annoia, diventa insipido. Ci sono purezza e silenzio, ma non c’è alcuna estasi: l’estasi arriva sempre attraverso l’altro. E allora all’interno cresce una fame d’amore, si desidera rifuggire la propria solitudine, questo vasto spazio infinito; si vuole un posticino confortevole con della gente intorno, in modo da dimenticarsi di se stessi.
Questa è la polarità fondamentale della vita, dell’amore e della meditazione. Le persone che cercano di vivere solo attraverso l’amore e le relazioni a poco a poco diventano molto limitate: perdono infinità e purezza, diventano superficiali.
Vivere sempre in relazione significa vivere dentro i confini in cui puoi incontrare l’altro; pertanto ti fermi sempre sulla soglia, non riesci mai a entrare nel tuo palazzo, perché è davanti alla porta che ci si incontra con i passanti. Le persone che vivono solo nell’amore, dunque, a poco a poco diventano superficiali. La loro vita perde di profondità. E le persone che vivono solo di meditazione diventano molto profonde, ma la loro vita manca di colore, è priva di danza estatica, non ha la qualità orgasmica dell’essere.
Un’umanità reale, l’umanità del futuro vivrà le due polarità assieme, e ogni mio sforzo consiste nel cercare di condividere tale comprensione. Sarebbe bene potersi spostare liberamente dall’una all’altra, senza che una delle due diventi una limitazione: non dovresti temere la folla del mercato, né dovresti temere il monastero.
Tale libertà, tale flessibilità di movimento, è ciò che io chiamo sannyas. Più ampio è il movimento, più ricca sarà la tua vita.
La vita dovrebbe essere al tempo stesso complessa e semplice. E’ necessario cercare di continuo questa armonia, altrimenti la vita diventa monotona, con una sola nota che si continua a ripetere, senza però poterne far nascere un’orchestra.

Love and Meditation
Personal growth requires a continuous movement from one polarity to another. Sometimes being alone is perfect: it needs its own space, forget everything and be with themselves. The other is absent and therefore you have no borders: the other creates a boundary, only six infinite.
Living together with others, going around the world, in society, little by little you feel a sense of confinement, limitation, as if they were around the walls: it becomes a subtle form of prison and feels the need to move .
Sometimes you need to feel completely alone, so that all boundaries disappear, as if the other did not exist at all, and the whole universe, the infinite sky there just for you at that moment of loneliness for the first time includes cos ‘is the infinite.

Such freedom, such flexibility of movement, is what I call sannyas. Larger the movement, your life will be richer.

Eric Burdon – Spill The Wine (Live at Lugano, 2006)
Eric Victor Burdon (Newcastle upon Tyne, 11 maggio 1941) è un cantante inglese. È noto per essere stato il leader degli Animals e, in seguito, del gruppo funk War, per poi condurre una carriera solista. È stato inserito al 57º posto nella Lista dei 100 migliori cantanti secondo Rolling Stone
Nel 1963, Burdon si unì al gruppo Alan Price Rhythm and Blues Combo, fondato dal tastierista Alan Price, il quale cambiò il nome in The Animals, per via delle loro performance, selvagge per quei tempi. Il gruppo fu tra i rappresentanti della cosiddetta British invasion, assieme a Beatles, Who, Rolling Stones, The Dave Clark Five e Kinks. Gli Animals divennero noti soprattutto grazie al singolo The House of the Rising Sun e ad altri brani come I’m Crying, It’s My Life, Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood e We’ve Gotta Get Out of This Place. La band si scioglie prematuramente nel 1966.
Poco dopo, Burdon assieme al batterista Barry Jenkins formò un nuovo progetto chiamato Eric Burdon & The Animals (da altri chiamato “Eric Burdon and The New Animals”) che rimase in attività fino al 1969, quando Eric si trasferì a San Francisco per formare i War (inizialmente denominati “Eric Burdon and War”), una formazione di estrazione multietnica dedita a una miscela tra funk, R&B, jazz e latin. La band esordì con Eric Burdon Declares “War”, che contiene singoli come Tobacco Road e Spill the Wine. Durante una tournée, il cantante ebbe un attacco di asma e gli altri membri dovettero gestire le restanti tappe senza di lui.
Burdon lasciò i War per collaborare con il cantante blues Jimmy Witherspoon, incidendo l’album Guilty! (1971) e intraprendendo una carriera solista con la creazione di una band autoreferenziale, la Eric Burdon Band, che pubblicò Sun Secrets (1974) e Stop (1975). Nel 1975 si riunì momentaneamente con gli Animals pubblicando un nuovo disco, Before We Were So Rudely Interrupted (1977).
Nel 1990 Burdon incise la canzone No Man’s Land insieme a Tony Carey e Anne Haigis.
Nel 1994 Eric e gli altri componenti degli Animals vennero ammessi alla Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Accanto alla sua carriera musicale, Burdon ha partecipato saltuariamente ad alcune pellicole cinematografiche, ad esempio nel film The Doors, ove fa una breve apparizione nel ruolo di un manager.
