Colui che pratica solo la devozione è come un cieco che non sa dove andare e nel suo entusiasmo vaga in ogni direzione. Colui che pratica solo la filosofia, d’altro canto, è come un paralitico che, sebbene possa vedere la meta lontana, poiché la sua comprensione rimane solo teorica, non riesce ad avvicinarsi di un solo passo. Comunque, se l’amore e l’energia del devoto si combinano con la saggezza e la discriminazione del filosofo, si può star certi che una tal persona arriverà alla meta.

Spesso ci confrontiamo con gli altri,
con le loro vite e crediamo di essere
carenti di qualcosa o di avere
un diritto a quanto sembra
abbondare per coloro che appaiono facilitati.
In noi si alimenta il senso di ingiusta
o il pensiero di essere stati usurpati.
È più facile rigettare i problemi
e pretendere di avere privilegi,
senza in realtà mettersi in gioco
e soprattutto,dare attenzione
a qualcosa di armonioso, piuttosto
che covare rabbia e rivalsa.
