Un giorno i topi si riunirono a congresso per escogitare il modo di sfuggire all’orribile gatto
che abitava nel loro stesso appartamento.
Ad un tratto un giovane topolino esclamò: – Vi dirò io che cosa dobbiamo fare…una cosa
semplice: attaccare un campanello alla coda del gatto. Quando si muoverà, il campanello suonerà e
noi sapremo dov’è la bestiaccia. –
I topi si misero a strillare saltellando di gioia finchè un vecchio topone domandò: – E chi andrà
ad attaccare il campanello? –
Tutti tacquero. Nessuno dei topi era disposto a tentare l’impresa.
Tra il dire e il fare c’è di mezzo il mare.

One day the mice gathered in Congress to figure out how to escape the horrible cat who lived in their own apartment.
Suddenly a young rat exclaimed: – I’ll tell you what to do … something simple: attach a bell to the cat’s tail. When you move, the bell will ring and we will know where the beast. –
The mice began to shriek with joy hopping until an old rat asked – and who will go to attack the bell? –
All were silent. None of the mice was willing to groped the company.
