Con te e senza di te

Una giovane donna e un uomo si innamorarono e, come accade sempre, volevano sposarsi subito.
La donna pose solo una condizione…era molto istruita, molto sofisticata, molto ricca.
E l’uomo le disse: “Accetto qualsiasi tua condizione, ma non posso vivere senza di te”.
Lei replicò: “Prima di tutto ascolta la mia condizione, poi pensaci. Non è una condizione qualsiasi…non dovremo vivere nella stessa casa. Io possiedo una grandissima proprietà e un lago bellissimo circondato da alberi, giardini e prati: ti farò costruire una casa sull’ altra sponda, proprio di fronte a quella in cui vivo io”.
L’uomo commentò: “Ma così che senso ha sposarsi?”
La donna spiegò: “Sposarsi non significa distruggersi a vicenda.Io ti dono uno spazio tuo, e conservo il mio. Una volta ogni tanto, camminando in giardino potremo incontrarci. Una volta ogni tanto mentre andiamo in barca sul lago, potremo incontrarci…per caso! Oppure ogni tanto potrò invitarti a prendere un tè da me, oppure tu potrai invitare me”.
L’uomo disse: “Questa idea è semplicemente assurda!”
Al che la donna concluse: “Allora puoi scordarti il matrimonio”.
Questa è la sola idea giusta, solo così il nostro amore potrà continuare a crescere, perchè noi resteremo sempre freschi agli occhi dell’altra; non ci daremo per scontati…io conserverò il diritto di rifiutare un tuo invito, e tu conserverai la libertà di rifiutare il mio: in nessun modo le nostre libertà verranno intaccate. E tra queste due libertà cresce lo splendido fenomeno dell’amore.
